Faith is serious business, but that doesn’t mean Catholics should have to go around looking serious all the time.

Welcome to Catholic Humor Scrolls.

Here at Catholic Humor Scrolls, family, life, Bible stories, cartoons, trivia, little-known stories, lore, Scripture, and the Catechism all get mixed together with a healthy (and respectful) dose of good humor.

Scroll around. Smile a little. Learn something you didn’t know. And maybe discover that a good laugh can occasionally point us toward something much bigger.

It's Cool To Be Catholic

And Sometimes Humorous Too!

Catholic-Ish

Catholic life has its serious moments. It also has fish fries, feast days, patron saints for things you didn’t know needed patron saints, mysterious words in Latin, parish traditions, Catholic trivia, and enough wonderfully human moments to keep us smiling all the way to Sunday.

This is where we celebrate some of that—the interesting, surprising, funny, beautiful, and occasionally peculiar stuff that comes with being Catholic. Nothing too heavy. Just a little faith, a little fun, and maybe something that makes you say, “I didn’t know that!”

Everybody Has A Story

Some stories happen in churches. Others happen in diners, hospital rooms, grocery-store lines, little towns, family kitchens, or somewhere along the road. Most don't begin with trumpets and angels. They begin with ordinary people doing ordinary things.

We collect some of those stories here—the funny ones, touching ones, surprising ones, and occasionally the ones that make you wonder if God might have been up to something.

It's Okay To Laugh

Catholics have been laughing for a very long time.

We laugh at ourselves. We laugh at the little things that happen in parish life. We laugh at family life, getting older, getting distracted during Mass, trying to remember somebody’s name at the church supper—and all those wonderfully ordinary moments when faith and real life bump into each other.

The humor here is meant to be gentle, good-natured, and occasionally just a little bit ridiculous.

Because sometimes a smile opens a door that a sermon never could.

Behind Reach One Media—and somewhere behind all those Catholic Humor Scrolls—are E.B. and Opa, a husband-and-wife team who have been sharing life, faith, family, and an occasional eye roll for more than 50 years.

They are parents, grandparents, and now great-grandparents. Opa is retired from the military; E.B. is retired from a career in Career Development. He is in Knights of Columbus and also a member of the Catholic Media Association. She is a Lector. They both serve as Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers in the Diocese of Charleston (Holy Trinity Parish).

But those are all résumé things... the important things are really much simpler.

E.B and Opa both love their Catholic faith. They love their family. They believe God is present in the ordinary stuff of everyday life—and most certainly, the real presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. And they want all Catholics to understand that faith doesn't require walking around looking like you've just misplaced your last friend.

So they create, write, draw, tell stories, laugh at themselves, and try to encourage one person at a time (Reach One Media).

And after more than half a century together, the message they hope to leave behind is pretty simple:

It’s Cool To Be Catholic — Cool2B!

Meet E.B and Opa
